Model 243 programmable pulser - My friend Reed has a giant Buchla system. He told me he was interested in a 242 programmable Pulser. That thing uses an EMS style patch matrix to program 3 channels of patterns up to 12 steps long. I suggested that it may be better for me to design a double wide module that has toggle switches for 6 channels of 16 steps. It is almost finished now. The panel is from Front Panel Express. Reed said he was only interested if I called it the 243 Programmable Pulser and printed "Verbos & Associates Brooklyn, New York" a the bottom, like a Buchla module. I'm making one for him and one for my Buchla.

243 PCB - This is a snapshot of the 243 PCB while adding components. A lot of wire ends up being added between this and the front panel.

243 Programmable Pulser - Finally finished and working. This is my custom designed and built Programmable Pulser. It's based on a 246 core, but with changes to make it easier to source the parts. The LEDs are real pretty. Like a Christmas tree. What's great about this is that there is a pulse out and pulse in on each step. So there is no need for a reset input. Any step can be the start and any one can be the end. A row can be fed into the stage 1 pulse input to make a reset row. The analog input sweeps between steps with a 0-15 volt CV.

Please excuse the audio quality since Vista had audio recording issues. I now have an XS8, and the SPDIF audio is fed to the Virus. Imagine applying Atomizer on the XS8!

The program running on the screen in the background is Adobe Audition, recording the music at the same time, so I can dub the video with it. :P

No MIDI was used in this video, every sound comes from the synth it was played on.

Buchla 248 Multiple Arbitrary Function Generator - This is a picture of Reed's MARF after I fixed it. It was skipping steps when triggered from an external clock. I had to invent a mod to solve this problem. I don't know how useful that mod is, since there are only about 10 of these. The world's coolest analog sequencer.

Buchla 100 PCBs - These are Buchla 100 PCBs. the big one is from a 114 touchplate keyboard and the smaller one is a 107 voltage controlled mixer. I will turn these into functional modules soon.

my Buchla 259 - The best analog oscillator module ever made. The Buchla 259.

a Buchla 259 I built for the Audities Foundation - Built from NOS Buchla PCBs. Don didn't have any of the knobs you usually see left, but he did put these on some of the 259s he sold in the 70s.

The programmable pulser, Buchla 107 and 248 - a couple works in progress. None of the 3 working at this point.

Buchla 107 and 160 - Buchla stuff is good. The 107 is a 10 channel voltage controlled mixer, basically it's 10 110 VCAs sharing 2 output stages, then mixed to a master out as well. Oddly, the pots on the front are volume controls going into the VCAs, so there's no way to turn on the channel without external voltage! The 160 is a simple analog noise generator. It only has white and pink noise outputs. Not exactly a Source of Uncertainty, but handy.

new power buss board - I had these power buss boards made to run the power throughout Reed's and my Buchla systems. These are gold plated. They look great and make the power wiring real easy. The modules all get 10 pin edgecard connectors. Buchla systems have a silly number of power lines. (+5, +12,+15, +24, -15, -24, quiet ground, noisey ground) Pin seven is bent together to key the connector.

My 263 prototypes - This is my new creation. The 263 quantizer / shift register . It is a dual 4 stage analog shift register and an 8 channel chromatic quantizer for Buchla systems. The switch in the middle chains to 2 shift registers together for one 8 stage one. These will be available for sale soon, when I get all the bugs out.

Fun with the Analogue Systems rs290 Sampler/Delay

Here we put a beat from the Machinedrum into the rs290 in 'sample mode' to create a loop.

Using CV outs from an envelope generator you can start and stop playback and recording. We use a third EG to modulate the sample pitch/speed and then try out different waveforms from an LFO. You also have direct knob access to the sample start and end times which can be great for repeater-type effects.

This module has a great digital delay with delay times up to 26.8 seconds and also has a great sounding tape delay mode. You can save presets too! There's also an expander module which gives you MIDI control over sampler functions, the rs295.

CONRAD Electronic Drummer Model CRM-260

A small but solid build Rhythmbox from the 1970's. The machine is Made In Korea and was selled through Conrad (a german electronic shop) the machine was also selled as AK Drummer Model CRM-260.
The Box offers 8 presets: Trot, Waltz, Rock, Slow Rock, Disco, Cha Cha, Bossanova and Rumba.
The red knob is for the Volume and the blue is for the Tempo. The red button on the left is for the Power, the right is the Start button. A led above the Start button shows the first measure.
When no-one of the rhythm buttons is pressed, the machine produces a "standard" very simple rhythm. You can create more rhythms by pressing two or more buttons simultaneous.
On the rear are two jacks for Pedal/Foot Switch and Output, the DC 9V Adaptor jack and a Battery case.
The whole box is made of a DIY metalcase with two dinky metal grips.
Measures: Length:19cm. Depth:11,5 High:5,5 cm.

Very small, very simple and very cheesy
but i like it ;)

Megcos LFO Toy - Optical pitch control, pitch modulation, all good fun

Tape Scratcher - Tapehead extracted for manual manipulation. Works best on magnetic swipe cards. I also kept the C.B style Mic. Nice distorted sound. This is also rigged up with ultra bright blue leds and a red led envelope follower under the circuit.

Were a Happy Family - Happy casio family

Alesis HR16 - This is one of the funnest and coolest sounding devices I've bent. As a drummer I love bending drum loops and the HR-16 is the master. I've just started working on a couple TR-505's and I can only hope their as cool. Since bending I sold this way too cheap to a buddy who I knew wouldn't baby it to see if the unit and my bends can stand some abuse. I fully plan on buying and bending more of these!

Coleco Talking Keyboard - Coleco Talking Keyboard -A coleco talking teacher installed into and wired to a resistor style keyboard. Tons of loops, glitches, beeps bloops, optical pitch control, optical Volume Control.

Speak&Math&Sega - Speak and math with bends and keypad controlled by joystick.

MegcosMusicToy - Keyboard toy thingy with photo and touch control. The first bent goodie I ever painted. Turned out nice.

Here is a demo of the Frostwave Funk-A-Duck filter. It features sweepable low, high and band pass filters as well as an envelope follower with positive and negative envelopes. There are controls for input/output levels, one knob to fade from up, down or "none" envelope, resonance(which can self-oscillate), frequency, and speed of the envelope. It also has a bypass footswitch. This super versatile filter can be used on nearly everything including guitar, bass, drum loops, keyboards; All of them!

Im using the Korg X5's choir , Microkorg some sweeping and beeping using its arpeggiator at the slowest speed. The Ensoniq Esq1 is making that lovely old piano sound, synthesized as it is, it has a lovely warm tone.ESQ is also making the "vangelis" type leads . The Junos are doing the rest

This is an awesome sounding delay pedal! You can hear the dry signal of the Jomox XBase888 in the first section. It's great having it synced. The TimeFactor's display shows you the delay time in note values or milliseconds.

The TimeFactor is actually two delays in one. It has a mix knob, second from the top-left, that allows you to transition between two different delay times, The first delay in this demo is the "Band Delay", the second is "Reverse" and the third is a "Mod Delay". You can hear at the end how it will actually transition smoothly from one delay time to another, giving you some interesting effects. This super delay pedal also does amazing tape and analog emulations as well as a looper. Nice.
